Today’s Bears/Packers Week Salute Goes to The Winningest Coach in Packers History….. Earl “Curly” Lambeau

In honor of #BearsPackersFanDuelWeek here at Football Fan Rush we will be posting up the numbers from some outstanding current and former players of both teams, but today we feature a coach.

We kicked it off with a salute to Ahman Green, featured Donald Driver and today hats off to Earl “Curly” Lambeau.

I’m sure by now you’ve guessed this is who the stadium of the Green Bay Packers is named after and here’s why.

Curly Lambeau was not only a pretty darn good athlete and  football player, Lambeau is also the founder, player, and first coach of the Green Bay Packers professional football team. He also shares the distinction with rival George Halas of the Chicago Bears of coaching his team to the most National Football League championships, with six.

Curly started his Packer career as a player/coach of the team. Per Wikipedia, Curly Lambeau threw 24 touchdown passes, rushed for eight touchdowns, and caught three touchdowns in 77 games. Lambeau was the first Packer to throw a pass, throw a touchdown pass, and make a field goal in Green Bay Packer franchise history. Curly won his only National Football League championship as a player-coach in 1929, thereafter coaching only. In 1921, he was the teams kicker. He also kicked 1 field goal each in 1922, 1924, and 1925.  Geez!

As an NFL Coach, Lambeau lead  the Packers to six championships (1929, 1930, 1931, 1936, 1939, 1944). Curly’s regular-season record of 209–104–21 (.657) with a playoff record of 3–2, 212–106–21 (.656) overall. Lambeau is still far and away the winningest coach in Packers history. Yes, even over Vince Lombari who holds the 2 spot for Packers coaching wins, but definitely the #1 spot in motivational speeches.

Before Curly’s coaching career came to a close he also coached the Chicago Cardinals (Bears) 1950-51 and the Washington Redskins 1952-53. It was obvious his winners luck had run out because won only 12 games total over these four seasons. Ouch!

Earl “Curly” Lambeau finished off his 33-year NFL coaching career with an official overall record of 229–134–22 and was an inaugural inductee to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1963.

So Packers fans raise a glass and give a big salute to the man that started it all in Green Bay, Wi…… The father of the Green Bay Packers Mr. Earl “Curly” Lambeau!

TODAY’S BEARS/PACKERS WEEK SALUTE GOES TO THE PACKERS ALL-TIME RECEIVING LEADER

In honor of #BearsPackersFanDuelWeek here at Football Fan Rush we will be posting up the numbers from some outstanding current and former players of both teams.

We kicked it off with a salute to Ahman Green and today we salute Dancing Donald Driver!

It wasn’t enough that Donald Driver shocked the masses with his smoother moves on Dancing with the Stars on Season 14, but this Green Bay Packer also holds an all time Packers team record.

Driver, who spent 14 seasons with the team, has four NFL ProBowl selections and yes even a Superbowl Ring. If that isn’t enough, this 7th Round 1999 draft pick currently hails as the Packers All-Time Receiving Leader with 10,137 yards.

While that’s more than enough to make any Cheesehead fan happy, many should also be proud of quite a few of his off the field accomplishments.  For a full look into Donald Driver on and off the field hit up the link below.130131-driver-donald-650a

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF RGIII…… WHERE HE’LL END UP NOBODY KNOWS

By: KaSandra Hunt | August 31, 2015 | 9:19pm CST

man12

When the news of a keep him/ can him tug of war battle erupted in the front office of the Washington Redskins on keeping or trading RGIII, many grabbed the popcorn to see how this feature plays out.

Over the weekend, ESPN broke the news that the Redskins were shopping Griffin in a trade but had no takers as of yet.  While this was’t a huge shocked , you almost have to feel a little sorry for Griffin.

Griffin hit the ground running as a rookie making all “Hail To The Redskins” (HTTR) Fans a glimpse of hope that their team was once agin contenders.  I mean the man was not only great to watch but a breath of fresh air from what the Redskins had the past few seasons. Then we witnessed an injury that made many cringe while playing the Ravens. Then Raven Defensive End, Haloti Ngata, reinsured a past knee injury with a direct hit to Griffins right knee twisting it in the process.  Griffin tried his best to be professional and play through the pain, but after several plays Griffin hobbled off the field with a Grade 1 LCL sprain.

After giving the knee a little time to heal, Griffin’s next game appearance was a success against the Eagles and he felt confident and ready to do some playoff battling.  As far as his knee, well not so much.

Per controversy, doctors had not cleared Griffin’s return which proved to be a huge blow that would change his future as the Redskins starting QB

Griffin re-injured his knee in a Wild Card loss to the Seahawks this time leading him to undergo surgery on both his LCL and ACL…. yikes.

Many hoped for a speedy return.  I mean the nation had just watched Vikings Adrian Peterson return from surgery as though he was a Greek Mythological God. Griffin was hoping the same, but unfortunately, he was unable to bring about that same tenacity and post surgery success as Peterson.

We watched a man we thought was on his way to being one of the best QB’s to ever pay the game be reduced to’ oh yeah he is still on the team isn’t he.  From fan cheers in 2012 to boos and even being benched by his head coach by 2014, the Redskins knew they needed to figure this out quick.

But how do you swallow taking a $16.1 million guaranteed payout loss and still sleep at night. Apparently, what the team is seeing on the field, it has to be done.

The team has officially named QB Kirk Cousins, who has been very consistent over the last few years, their stating quarterback for the Week 1 season opener. And with that ladies and gentlemen we knew then that we could insert the famous phrase “You’re Outta Here” to Griffin.

While the Redskins organization is looking for takers, RGIII has not yet been cleared to play so the team cannot cut him at this time.

So tell us, do you think RGIII still has what it takes to be an NFL QB and if so, which team just may be a good fit?
